Sunset at the Intervale Vista
Sunset at the Intervale Vista

This was painted en plein air at the Intervale Scenic Vista just before sunset in late October, 2015. We had a wonderful foliage, and the gray skies make the intensity of the colors pop to a near psychedelic range. Here I attempted to capture the fleeting color changes that usher on and off stage like quick-footed ballet dancers in the Autumn in New England. Mount Washington is in the distance, with Cathedral Ledge to the left.

The Marsh on 113 Heading Towards Brownfield, ME
The Marsh on 113 Heading Towards Brownfield, ME

Each time I drive on 113 em route to Portland, ME., I always drive past this mysterious marsh. It seems to have that special magic I can't put into words. I find marshes are the most overlooked places to paint en plein air; the open wetland is perhaps a refreshing view a midst the Mountainous terrain of the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire. I usually stop here to take in the magic scenery, and sometimes I even spot a beaver swimming by. I say hello, and I sometimes get a territorial splash once my presence is acknowledged. There is so much to learn in the wilderness, for there is never a dull moment in Nature.

The Little White Church
The Little White Church

“The Little White Church” was painted on location at Crystal Lake in Eaton, NH. This piece is meant to capture the movement and the energy of the fleeting, rapidly changing autumn colors of New England.  I was honored to paint this particular scene, as I find it has offers beauty, peacefulness and serenity throughout each season, day or night. I believe it has healing or even magical properties, as the whimsical colors suggest.

September on Pequawket Pond
September on Pequawket Pond

Recently I've really started enjoying plein air painting, or "on location" painting. It's been a great way to get out of the studio and spend some time with Mother Nature. Here is a rough painting of Pequawket Pond, located in Conway, New Hampshire, completed just at the early stages of foliage we are so fortunate to have here in New England. "Pequawket Pond in September" Acrylic on Canvas, 16"x 20" September 2015. For sale at $275. Framed and ready to hang.

Mount Washington with Clouds
Mount Washington with Clouds

This is a piece I created during the White Mountain Arts Experience, which took place at the Omni Mount Washington Resort with Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire. I was set up on the balcony as a live painter. Here, you can see my view of Mount Washington. It was a great experience for viewers to look into the painting process, and for artists to connect with other artists. During this Arts event I got to take a class with New Hampshire's Poet Laureate, Alice B. Fogel. It was a cloudy day, but a special day of learning and growing as an Artist.
